Welcome, Summer Party

Party Ideas

In just a few weeks, we’ll be welcoming the summer season and the start of sunblocks, sundresses, shorts and beaches. The summer’s not an official holiday, but we treat it as one big, long holiday, anyway. So to celebrate the beginning of this scorching holiday, here are some tips to organizing a “Welcome, Summer” pool party.

Pool Party

Ah, in the heat of the summer, it’s nice to have or to be at a pool party, all day, if possible. If you’re lucky enough to have a pool or know someone with a pool, then you can put a check beside step one. Otherwise, you could always rent a public pool. Check your local county for more information. Be sure to stock up on finger foods that a person can consume in one bite (or two). This includes chips, pretzels, cut-up fruits and veggies (carrots, celery, pineapple, orange, mango), and offer dipping sauces for them. You can also serve fried wings, ribs, mini-sandwiches, mini-burgers, and cocktail hotdogs.

Be sure to play beach music during the party to keep your guests in high spirits. And, if everyone’s of legal age, be sure to serve alcohol. You can hire a bartender (or just someone who just knows how to mix drinks) or you can simply provide the bottles and have people mix their own drinks. Margaritas and pina coladas are a must at pool parties. If you’re going to have people mixing drinks, be sure to put a how-to booklets with suggestions highlighted. At the end, give your guests a small bottle of sunblock as party favors. You can repeat the same party again at the end of summer as a goodbye, summer party.
