Cutting Corners on Christmas Decorating!
If you find yourself financially strapped after paying your end of the year bills and have managed to finish
your Christmas shopping but now have little money left over to decorate your home or office, don’t worry! There are lots of ways that you can cut corners on Christmas decorating. Read on for some suggestions …
-If you have never set foot in the many dollar stores that are in every town, then it is about time you did. These are virtual gold mines for cheap decorations. Be careful, however, to buy inexpensive decoration that are not too cheaply made. If a decoration rips as soon as you take it out of its packaging, then it was not just a cheap price but a bad deal.
-Shop in second hand shops for decorations. Second hand no longer necessarily means old, worn or unstylish. Take your savvy fashion sense for clothes and translate it into your Christmas decorating shopping.
-Real Christmas trees are beautiful but are so much work and can be costly. Invest in an artificial tree. Some of the newer trees even come with fiber optic lights already on them. Buy a small to medium artificial tree for your office and use it year after year.
-Make your own pine garland with fir boughs from your backyard. Use a wire wreath or florist wire. If that does not appeal to you, then use the boughs to decorate your fireplace, dining room table, entryway or staircase. They make a nice addition to a Christmas bouquet of flowers as well. To give them a more colorful twist, add ornaments, or lights to them.
-On the same trip to your back or front yard, pick up nuts, acorns, and pine cones. Bring them inside and turn them into a Christmas art project for you and your spouse and children. Spray them with gold, silver, red or green paint. Then display them in areas where family and guests alike can see them. Another option is to turn them into candleholders. Use a round cardboard base for the bottom and always place candles in a safe place where they will not get knocked over.
-Old or broken garland from last year’s Christmas tree does not have to be trashed. Use it to beautify doorways and windows. You also can twist it around staircases.
Now that you have some cost effective decorating ideas, get to it!
