It's nice to have a tree, but better when it's not just another thing you have to rush to buy.

Happy new year!!! I hope everyone has started it well. This time round I didnt need to host a new year party, and I enjoyed it because hosting a new year party is stressful and tiring. It was a very simple but interesting party, there was no theme so it was just a free style new year party.

I prefer having very few Christmas decorations in my house. Too much of it makes the house look like a witch-doctor's house. A simple Medium sized Christmas tree decorated with few ribbons, Christmas lights is just enough for me.

When we were kids we used to be so enthusiastic abt christmas, we used to decorate the christmas tree as early as the first week of December. But as we grew, the enthusiasm faded away. These days I do christmas without the christmas tree, I know that to some people, thats a crime LOL.

Is it just me who finds Christmas time to be sort of a time to waste money? I remember when I was a kid, each Christmas my parents had to buy new decorations yet the previous christmas decorations were still in good condition and whenever I asked them why they are buying new decorations they would say that with the old decorations they wouldnt feel like they are having a good Christmas. I tend to think that Christmas is somehow overrated. That's just my opinion

A good “green” way to mark Grandparents Day on Sunday is to plant a tree in their memory.
I did this last year and was pleased that all four of my grandparents are being remembered in this way.
A website called Lasting Tribute has an offer to dedicate a tree in partnership with The Tree Appeal, for £9.99, which works out at half their usual price of £19.99.

But you have to be quick – their offer ends on October.

Hi P. Illsley

I really like you post. It brings me back to the years when I had summer holidays and no parents around. What a great time that was: no one to report to, no one to tell you off and you could do what ever you wanted. My mum wrote my brother and me a list of things she wants to have done by the end of day and just checked on us every now and then through phone call or surprise visits. And once or twice during these holidays we went to visit our grandparent where we spend great days out with kids from their neighbourhood.

It really seems that to long ago, thinking back.
