This is not a recipe for the faint-hearted. Actually, it’s probably one of the most disgusting recipes I’ve ever come across; however, it’s something the kids absolutely love, and if you can get past the look, it’s quite tasty. I suggest using a brand-new kitty litter box and litter scoop as "props" to help ensure you get the full effect.

Halloween Parties for Younger Kids
by T Akery October 6th, 2011 | Halloween, Party Ideas
Young children aren't big on the scare factor of Halloween. While much of Halloween is pure make believe, they are still at the age when the make believe seems real. For them, a scary Halloween is less important than a safe, fun one. For parents, the biggest issue is safety. Check out these types of Halloween parties that are a safer alternative than going door to door.
One of the more popular ideas that is hitting the Halloween party circuit is to host a Trunk or Treat party. This party is conducted outdoors. Cars line up in a parking lot.

Jack-O-Lantern Carving Party
by Heather Duchan September 26th, 2011 | Halloween, Party Ideas
Creating Jack-O-Lanterns is a much-loved Halloween tradition. This year, make it an even more special occasion by inviting friends and family over and turning your pumpkin carving into a party.
The best location for this event is outside, since pumpkin carving can get messy, espcially if kids are around. Luckily, fall weather is usually perfect for outdoor events. You should plan to have the party when there are still several hours of daylight, so there will be good lighting for safe cutting.
Create invitations with construction paper. Trace jack-o-lanterns on orange paper, cut them out, and glue them onto blank cards.

Trick or Treat Party
by Michele October 27th, 2010 | Halloween, Party Ideas
With Halloween falling on a Sunday this year and many communities observing trick or treat on that evening, this is the perfect year to throw a pre-trick or treat party!
The Theme
Depending on the age of your party-goers, you will want to decide whether this is a costume party. For younger children, wearing costumes may put them at risk of being damaged or stained beforehand. For older kids, it may be an easier way to have the kids ready for trick or treating. A houseful of teens (or preteens) needing to primp and apply makeup could be overwhelming.

Halloween Recipes: Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice
by Jane Wangersky October 26th, 2010 | Halloween, Recipe
Have you ever wondered how the butterbeer in the Harry Potter books was supposed to taste? Britta Peterson did, and as a huge Potter fan and author of the Halloween party book Eerie Elegance, she made it her business to figure it out.
Here's her original (adults-only) recipe:
Britta says you can also use butterscotch flavoring, but that's actually higher in alcohol
Here's her original (adults-only) recipe:
Butterbeer
1 cup butterscotch schnapps
7 cups cream soda (almost one 2 liter bottle)
Carefully mix just before serving, adding the schnapps to the soda then stirring gently to mix well, or the fizz will dissipate too soon. Makes two quarts.
