Theodor Seuss Geisel, or Dr. Seuss, was born on March 2, 1904. Best known for his children's books that showcase fantastic characters and infectious rhymes, he remains loved by millions of children. In fact, many grade schools across the United States celebrate his birth with parties, games, and treats.
In my children's school district, a special component of these celebrations usually involves a life-sized version of the Cat in the Hat. You must remember the tall stove pipe hat this crazy feline wore? It is hard to forget those red and white stripes!

Make Penguins and Polar Bears

Penguins and polar bears may never meet in the wild, but they can meet on your craft table, as they make a great winter project for kids ages 2-8. These projects can be done with a varying of degree of difficulty, and you can use materials you find in your home or you might pick up at the crafts store. When you are finished, you can use your penguins and polar bears for a puppet show, or create a winter background and have them live out their days on ice.
